Our Middle School students recently learned about an exciting Summer Reading Program specifically designed for them by Sue Chaffee from the Newfield Public Library!
As part of our district's commitment to literacy, the Middle School Data Team partnered with the library to help students stay engaged in reading and combat summer learning loss. Students were also able to sign up for a library card, giving them access to materials from 33 library systems throughout the Finger Lakes region! 📚

As the culminating experience for Kids Discover the Farm, the entire fifth grade class visited five local farms last week to see firsthand how food is grown, raised, and produced. They finished the field trip at Stone Bend Farm to calculate food miles before making pizzas with ingredients connected to the farms they visited earlier that day, including local pork, flour, and cheese!
Thank you to the local farmers, producers, and businesses who welcomed our students, shared their stories, and helped bring classroom learning to life:

This past Saturday, Sources of Strength hosted its annual Color Run, and the community showed up in full force for a beautiful day filled with fun, support, and color! 🌈✨
Participants got covered in color and then made their way around the school while getting even more colors! After crossing the finish line, everyone enjoyed burgers and hot dogs while celebrating another great event that highlighted the power of connection, kindness, and supporting one another! 💚🫂

After which they walked over to a time capsule activity and then the big moment, they walked through the Elementary School halls, which were filled with cheers and high-fives. The celebration continued as they walked through the Middle School and back to the High School, where the Seniors were welcomed back with pride! 🎉👏

A massive shoutout to our Baseball Team and our Girls Outdoor Track and Field Team! Both squads earned the NYSPHSAA Spring 2026 Scholar-Athlete Team Award, meaning 75% or more of their team members maintained a 90% or above average! Excellence in the classroom and on the field! 🧾

This Sunday evening, ESPN Ithaca will host their 13th Annual Night of Champions awards, and Newfield is bringing home some major honors:

A mini field trip with a big lesson in gratitude! Our students recently visited the bus garage to thank the drivers who help get them to and from school safely every day. 🚌
✉️🌷 Students delivered flowers and a thank you card to our bus drivers before getting a look at the garage. From seeing the buses up close to spotting their own drivers and buses, the garage was full of excited smiles and moments of awe.
Best of all, when our students returned to their classroom they expressed how happy it made them to show gratitude to others. Thank you to our transportation team for welcoming our students and for all you do each day! 🙏
