When Newfield Central School District tax bills arrive in mailboxes this September, there will be a few changes to how payments are made.
School tax bills will be mailed on or around September 1, and while there are still three ways to pay, by mail, in person or online, each option will look a little different this year.
The biggest change is that school tax payments will no longer be collected at Newfield Town Hall. Instead, mailed payments will go to the TST BOCES Tax Office, while those who prefer to pay in person can do so right here in Newfield at the Tioga State Bank branch on Main Street. Online payments will also continue to be available through the district's new payment website, TaxLookup.net, beginning September 1.
Pay in Person
In-person payments will now be accepted at the Tioga State Bank Newfield Branch, 183 Main Street, Newfield, NY 14867, rather than Newfield Town Hall.
The move to Tioga State Bank keeps an in-person payment option in the community while also offering longer and more convenient hours.
Payments may be made at Tioga State Bank:
Monday through Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday and Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Reminder: Newfield Town Hall will no longer collect school tax payments.
Pay by Mail
Residents choosing to pay by mail should now send payments to the TST BOCES Tax Office rather than Newfield Town Hall.
Payments can be mailed to:
Newfield CSD
TST BOCES - CBO TAX
555 Warren Road
Ithaca, NY 14850
Pay Online
Beginning September 1, Newfield taxpayers can use TaxLookup.net instead of NYTaxGlance.com. The new system offers lower service fees than the district's previous online payment system, although fees still apply when paying online:
Credit card: 2.65% service fee of the tax bill
E-check: $1.50 per payment
It’s important to note that online service fees are paid directly to the website provider and are not income to the district.
TaxLookup.net will be available for Newfield taxpayers beginning September 1. At that time, taxpayers will also be able to use the site to view and print a copy of their school tax bill. Because the district is transitioning to TaxLookup.net this year, Newfield will not appear as an option on the site before September 1.
Important Dates to Know
Tax payments can be made without penalty through September 30. Payments made from October 1 through November 2 will incur a 2% penalty, which must be included in the payment amount.
Any taxes that remain unpaid after November 2 will be added to the January town/county tax bill with additional penalties.
A two-payment installment option is also available with a 2.5% service charge. The first installment, which must include the 2.5% charge on the total amount, is due by September 30. The second installment is due with County taxes in the spring and is included in that bill.
