Letter of Support April 1, 2020
I am reaching out to you with reassurance and support. With the recent Executive Order from Governor Cuomo, I sense that many of you are feeling overwhelmed with the prospect of providing your children with instruction over spring break. So many of you have diligently and valiantly facilitated the instruction our teachers have designed for distance learning.
While we understand that students will educationally benefit from the continuity over the "April break," I don't want families to stress out over strict schedules. Distance learning has never been meant to mimic the 7+ hour days that students receive when they attend the actual school building. Mental health is equally important as academic learning, especially in times like these.
I urge you to find the balance during this additional challenge. We are all in this together and we will be better and stronger for the struggle once we get to the other side.
