Welcome
to Newfield Central School!
In
the News........SEPTEMBER 2010
Dear
Newfield Community,
Fall
is here!
You
can tell it is fall by the crisp cool mornings and the leaves
swirling around your feet.
You
can tell it is fall by the sales in the department stores
and the urge you feel to buy lined paper.
You
can tell it is fall by the excitement in teacher’s
voices as they set up their classrooms with brightly colored
banners welcoming “their” children.
You
can tell it is fall by the butterflies in your stomach as
you think about sending your children off for a new school
year, hoping that they will make friends, be safe, and bring
home good grades.
It
has been 21 years since I sent my first child off to kindergarten
and five years since the last one graduated from high school.
But I still feel the excitement that fall brings –
beginning a new school year with your children, helping
them to achieve great things and become great young men
and women. To do that, we need to provide 21st century instruction.
We need to change and grow ourselves if we are to prepare
our students to be successful in the rapidly changing world
that we live in. So… hopefully you will notice our
efforts to use technology for communication and for instruction.
Hopefully, you will notice the recycling and the conservation
of energy. Hopefully, you will notice that we are becoming
a community of creative, innovative thinkers and problem-solvers.
Welcome
2010-11. We are ready!

Superintendent
UPDATE
ON MAIN ST. BRIDGE--The
Town Highway Department has informed us that there has been
a slight setback on the bridge timeline. IT WILL
NOT BE OPENED FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. We will
make the appropriate changes to bus routes. The new target
for the bridge to be open is September 13th. In the meantime,
please plan a route to school that avoids this area. Watch
our website for updated information as we receive it.
